Power, Affect, and Computing (PAC) Lab
We study the complex intersections of human experience and technology. Guided by critical, feminist, and other justice-oriented commitments, our core interests center on the socio-political aspects of emerging technologies, from social media, to AI, wearables, and femtech.
Across our work, we pay attention to interconnected themes of power, justice, identity, affect, and knowledge.
We draw from diverse fields including (Feminist) Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Critical Computing, Social Computing, Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), (Feminist) Science and Technology Studies (STS), Women and Gender Studies, Communication, and Critical Data and Algorithm Studies.
What unites our work is not a single domain, but a shared commitment to human-centered inquiry, non-reductive approaches to human experience, and a dedication to sociotechnical justice.

Jordan Taylor
Jordan Taylor (they/him) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Jordan studies the impacts of AI on Artists and LGBTQ+ communities. Their recent research focuses on the creative labor implications of Voice AI.

Tania Mishra
Tania Mishra (she/her) is a first-year PhD student at the University of Michigan School of Information. She graduated from Marquette University in May 2026 with an Honors Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Cognitive Science, minors in Dance and Gender and Sexuality Studies, and a concentration in Innovation Leadership. Tania's research centers on the intersection of gender, digital interaction, and data ethics.

Han is an MHI (Master of Health Informatics) student at the University of Michigan School of Information. Her research interests lie at the intersection of health informatics, human-computer interaction, and human-centered AI.
At PAC, she works on projects related to chronic pain and technology.

Naman Gupta
Naman Gupta (he/him) is a PhD Candidate in Computer Science at University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Director of Operations and Outreach at Madison Tech Clinic. His work examines how digital technologies enable gender-based and settler-colonial violence, and how communities reclaim technologies for collective safety, healing, and liberation.
